Election of Fellows
The Board of Directors seeks nominations from the Professional membership for persons, who in your opinion, are deserving of this award. The criteria set out below gives guidance on eligibility for election to Fellowship.
Nominations must be sent in detailed letter format, containing signatures of both proposer and seconder, to the Chief Executive at the address below and be received by Wednesday 31st July 2024. Nominations will be considered by the Board of Directors and certificates will be sent to those elected.
Criteria for the Election of Fellows
Fellowship of the Institute should not be conferred lightly. It shall recognise not only the professional ability of the person, but also the worth of their contribution to the Institute, or to the profession, in the fields of burial, cremation or associated services.
The criteria for the election of Fellows are that:
(a) The person proposed for election shall be a Professional Member or Associate Professional Member of the Institute.
(b) The person proposed for election shall first be nominated, in detailed letter format, by two members of the Institute.
The nomination shall include details of why the person has been nominated and shall be sent to the Chief Executive who shall place it before the Board of Directors. The Board shall then decide whether or not to elect the person nominated.
(c) The person proposed for election must be a person of professional ability upon whom, in the opinion of the Board, it would be in the interests of the Institute to confer the status of Fellow.
In this respect, the primary requirement shall be that such person shall have:-
(i) upon a subject with which the Institute is concerned in its purpose and objectives, prepared and submitted to the Board, or had published, an outstanding paper or thesis, or prepared and delivered at a general meeting or conference of the Institute, or similar organisation, an outstanding address or lecture which, in the opinion of the Board, is of value to the Institute, or the profession it serves; or
(ii) performed any service which, in the opinion of the Board, has been of outstanding importance to the Institute.
