The best way to respond to the consultation is via the link in box that says \u201cGive us your views\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guidance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/protecting-groundwater-from-human-burials\/protecting-groundwater-from-human-burials#new-cemeteries-permitting-requirements\">cemeteries guidance<\/a> states that new cemetery developments must do one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>meet all the criteria in the exemptions for low environmental risk cemeteries<\/li>\n<li><em> operate under a standard rules permit (when made available)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>operate under a bespoke permit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Standard rules permits (SRPs) are suitable for activities where the generic risks are well understood and mitigated, and so a site-specific risk assessment is not necessary.
