The Regulations were subsequently passed by a vote in the Scottish Parliament on 21 January 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Details about what the regulations do is available in our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/funeral-industry\/2025\/12\/03\/scottish-government-introduces-new-hydrolysis-regulations-under-the-burial-and-cremation-scotland-act-2016\/\">blog post<\/a>\u00a0from 3 December 2025.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The No. 1 Regulations focus on the amendments to the Burial and Cremation (Scotland) Act 2016 (\u201cthe 2016 Act\u201d), extending the 2016 Act to hydrolysis.<\/li>\n<li>The No. 2 Regulations are very similar to the Cremation (Scotland) Regulations 2019 and set out the procedures to be followed. The schedules contain the statutory application forms and registers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The regulations will come into force on\u00a0<strong>2 March 2026<\/strong>.
