Scottish Government – Temporary Changes to the Death Certification Review Service

The Death Certification Review Service (DCRS), run by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, checks on the accuracy of a sample of Medical Certificates of Cause of Death (MCCDs); also referred to as Form 11. During the course of the pandemic, various changes have been made to the Service, with the latest change taking effect from 18th January 2021 being the temporary reduction to the percentage of reviews carried out from 12% to 8% of all eligible MCCD.
